Its Mary!

From her Spring/Summer 09 Collection:

From her Fall 09 Collection:

Pay attention: Greek born print and fashion designer Mary Katrantzou and recent graduate from Central Saint Martins, had made her entrance with her bold graphic prints of oversized jewellery on bonded jersey dresses. Inspired by constructivism and early 70s references, her peices create illusions of wearing jewellery peices that are too heavy to wear. With all that hype of wearing big jewellery for Spring/ Summer, she made it as prints on her dresses. Although she has also combined some real jewellery on some of her pop inspired and ruffled prints. Big jewellery are an essential part of the Spring/ Summer Women's wardrobe. Colour blocking, graphic edging, and eye-popping designs..these are wonderful for the summer. A little preview of her Fall collection, inspired from perfume bottles.

Tube Etiquette

Tube etiquette and subversive signage:

1. Uses of intriguing and interactive graphics to help make the tube a nicer place.
2. Highlighting the safety and social problems.
3. Personal responses to universal problems that help social problems.

All by London graphics and communications designer William Shaun Bartlett.

British design classics on stamps

The Royal Mail has issued a set of 10 stamps celebrating 20th-century British design classics for this year! All iconic British designs that are known throughout the world. Example: Sir Giles Gilbert Scott’s design of the bright-red telephone box, or the Routemaster Bus: A true symbol of London to visitors from all over the world, now only a few of Douglas Scott and Colin Curtis’s remain on London’s streets. The Mini by Sir Alec Issigoni, has made use of every available space in the small car that was as much a fashion statement as a means of transport, the Robin Day chair, and Penguin books designed by Edward Young just to name a few.

Lounging outside on the WILD SIDE

Tribal, safari, and exotic printed textiles are all on the Spring/Summer '09 Fashion Runway..but also in interiors ( in this case exteriors) ! The Wild Side Collection from Perennials Outdoor Fabrics brings the essence of the Serengeti and the Kilimanjaro just outside your house, around your patios, pool, etc. An exotic collection of 14 playful textiles, mostly in acrylic which are soil, mildew, and UV rays resistant with a 3 year no-fade warranty.
The jungle tribal pattern need not to be only worn on you, but it could be worn on sofas, chairs, curtains, etc. that brings a jungle life to your living place. But don't over do it!!

Prints Charming

From Spanish born London-based Cristian Zuzunaga, comes this fresh visionary designs reflecting a new take on textile printing.
He bursted onto the art scene last year with a print for Royal College of Art (RCA) fashion graduate Peter Smith's collection, which stole the show. A year later, he got commissions from Moroso, Kvadrat, and Ligne Roset.
His prints are available to see during 100% design, 18-21 September at Ligne Roset's West End London store...
Having learnt from both fashion and interior designers, he prefers sitting on his fabric than wearing them. Oh and he does photography too! Now he's really BC..
