Seeing RED

Bushido - A recently opened Restaurant/Bar/Lounge in Bahrain (the previous place of the Blue Elephant Restaurant). It's a chic trendy Japanese inspired setting featuring samurai armors in floating glass cages, with refined ornaments, and a majestic concept. The food combines traditional "Robata" and "Fusion" cuisine in this elegant restaurant that's rich in atmosphere and ambiance.
Feel like reading a book? A book of Fashion? Fashion A to Z: An Illustrated Dictionary by Alex Newman and Zakee Shariff is it. With more than 2000 entries, and up to 240 pages, this book fills a gap in the market for an affordable, accessible and up-to-date guide to fashion terminology.

Temperley London and The Rug Company has collaborated together to create this vibrant new Nepalese Rug, Ophelia, by Fashion designer Alice Temperley, along with other handmade cushions.

This rug is entirely handmade, from the spinning of the wool to the weaving on the loom. It is unique, and has been crafted by weavers in the Kathmandu area, whose skills have been passed down through many generations. We use only the highest quality wool for our rugs, that of the Tibetan sheep, for its durability, rich texture and subtle colour variation. To this we have added the vision of a world class designer, and the result is a hand knotted contemporary rug of extraordinary beauty, which will itself become an heirloom to be treasured for years to come.

It's a hand-knotted 150 knot, Tibetan Wool rug. The Rug Company is located at City Center Bahrain.

This oversized bell lamp is a new creation by Italian lighting manufacturar Axo Light, which is great for use in large spaces. It comes in other different colors.


The Volant Armchair by Spanish designer Patricia Urquiola for Moroso. It's made out of Alcantara, an extraordinary non-woven textile that has tactile qualities of leather. It's finished off beautifully with a hand printed motif in vivid red and small series of smock embroidery also in red, contrasting the beige base and breaks for a brief moment the repeating rhythm of the pleats.

A little simplicity..

is all that it needs.

Sometimes its just something that's so simple, it makes a difference. You can radiate a room with a contemporary touch, some playfulness with a bold color, a different texture, and a great finish. My simplicity? A hot pink stance chair by John Niero accompanied with an Inchino floor lamp for Busnelli designed by Antonio Sciortino.

Folds Pleats and Layers

Layers are unraveled and formed, long fabrics gathered and pleated..fluidity, motion, and texture creates a unique characteristic. A different material, a different application, and a different perspective.. pushes the design dimension but fosters the same idea. Starting from a point, folds, pleats, cut-outs help define the space or object creating a sculptural characteristic based on how its been done and whats been used.

Glorious! its sheer madness! I'm pleased to announce the new french contemporary home furnishings company Moustache. Looking at the pictures, does this seem a bit odd? Mad? Unique? Yes! that's why its here in Beautiful Chaos! LOVE IT!

Topsy Turvy

Its topsy turvy..mix and match..push and pull..beautiful chaos inspirations!! Here's how:

1. Suspension style loft - with large suspended lamps that stand out in a contrasting color.

2. A glossy twist - a murano glass sculptural piece brings artistic flavour into the space. Also bring in the same color palette as the sculptural piece to other elements around the space, such as the living room sofa, or a table. Accentuate the place.

3. Freshen up a small space - Play with the height and the large windows by keeping things simple when furnishing a small space, to avoid overcrowding.

4. A Minimalist spirit - play along with the same color palette to balance the tones around. Here the lamp comes from the same color palette as the wooden floor, the window frame, and the color of the furniture.

5. Mix up the textures but stay within the same color palette. Ex. the metals, with the brass, with the dark wood, and the classical colors of white and black all blend together. Add pops of color in another texture such as glass to lift the space.

6. Combination of contemporary designs with contrasting colors. Big seatings and lamps combined with a contrasting color on the walls.

Knitted lights

Meet knotted light objects Ray & Matt, by llot lov design studio. Experimenting with objects and spilling out creative ideas that have no boundaries..taking risks by understanding the elements and learning about its unknown capabilities in endless creative ways.

The lamp Ray, is capable of being a lying, hanging, or decorative lamp that's 12 meters long. A lamp thats adaptive to many environments as you move along from one place to the other.
Matt is made to be moved and played around with. Yet its also an eco-friendly energy saving blub that doesn't emit heat.

Both make interesting decor elements and is great fun for all ages :)

Created by designer Sehwan Oh, the Peel Off Light is one that you can customize after you have taken it home with you. A light that has pre-scored tiles that you peel or keep..in that way it reflects your design aesthetic and how much illumination you want.

Metals and Patinas could work together

This is the house of Frederic Tabary, A decorator specialist..he has created a style with metals and patinas. When wood and iron come together in this case in a house, it could make it a unique warming environment..with a workshop spirit. I have thought of posting about this for a while now, because it truly defines Beautiful Chaos..Simple, not much going on, the melange of metals and patinas in a home with a couple of artwork is unique..Its not minimalist nor is it ultra-warm..the balance is just right. So here's a little bit about each picture by order:

1. With long windows that bring light into the kitchen, an old original tub shower with eagle legs comes into focus..this is actually the kitchen sink (you read right). The beams of support came from an industrial building.

2. Wood in small areas brings a warm and friendly tone to the house.

3. In the bedroom, an old print fabric is the bedspread. There's no headboard instead the grey-battened wall behind almost acts like one. A wall decoration "So?" gives an amusing message to the space.

4. A small window above the bathroom sink gives light from the bedroom into the bathroom. With the wood battened wall giving the room a rustic feel, and the modern glass bowls of the sink, there's a contrast of elements. There's a cute hand-print on the wall as well.

5. Little bits and pieces are on display at the corner office. At first glance we see the @ symbol, then there's the hand of an old mannequin holding a lamp.

6. Slim metals, grey-battened walls, and colorful artwork, brings down the visual roughness of the materials together.
