Pushing Design: New Art, its Kanye's cover

He does it again! I just love how Kanye West is so creative and artsy I had to post his latest project here. Pushing the boundaries of art and design, Kanye is inspiring the use of advanced technology on the new cover of Complex magazine with the help of videographer and photographer Chris Milk. A project that's about the futuristic creation of the Complex April/May cover photo shoot using CGI (Computer-generated Imagery), by creating a photograph from a facial scan that gathers data from a camera that revolves around an object. A computer then brings the images together to create an eerie detailed 2D photograph. Cool!!!

Umbrellas for the Civil but Discontent Man

Designed by Bruce and Stephanie Tharp of Materious.

"Sigmund Freud contends that aggressiveness is a fundamental human instinct whose inhibition is a necessary obligation of social life. These umbrellas combine a symbol of gentlemanly refinement--the full-sized, black umbrella--with an element from more manly sword-bearing times. The umbrellas offer brief psychological respite from the dictates of social amiability."

Chairs inspired from Classic Menswear

The RE:cover Chairs designed by Swedish designer Fredrik Färg, were inspired by classic menswear, such as suits and dinner jackets.

A formal menswear that never goes out of style is brought into a new light, by means of creating these unique chairs. Nowadays when I see lots of men sporting the suit jacket either worn with a regular t-shirt and jeans, or a bit formal with a button down shirt and pants in an eye-popping color or in a trendy manner, they have taken a modern way of wearing whats usually put aside to wear only for formal occasions into daily wear, that's hip, trendy, and brings a new strong modern male personality into stage.

Swaine Adeney Brigg gets a facelift

Under the new wing of previous Accessories Chief at Alexander McQueen, Dominic Laurelli, comes this new uplifted collection from luxury luggage company Swaine Adeney Brigg. Appealing more to the modern man and woman, the St. James Collection intends to be "synonymous with both traditional English leather goods and contemporary, modern style." Carrying your luggage around need not to be something that looks too classical anymore from Swaine Adeney Brigg, a well-established company from over 250 years. Bringing in young designer Dominic Laurelli, has people rolling up their sleeves eager to invest in a luggage or two, of which Laurelli drew his inspiration from legend fashion designer Coco Chanel, and the understated elegance of the 1920s luxury travel.

Butterflies at Dior Homme

Butterflies + Men's Fashion = Andrea Matrovito's latest artful installation for Dior Homme in Paris.
The young Italian designer was inspired by Dior Homme Artistic Director Kris Van Assche's Fall/Winter '08 Collection, which featured butterflies on all the Menswear. Shirts, butterfly-shaped bow ties, and blazers just to name a few.
Almost 9,000 black decoupage replicas flow across the shop's white ceilings and walls. This installation will stay before fluttering away for the New Year. The window display depicts the artist (Andrea Matrovito) amidst his butterflies.

DIY- Andrea Crews

Pictures from her S/S 09 collection, photographed by Maroussia Rebecq
and her Dance performance in Transylvania.

When fashion allows artists to have their way today is nothing new, for example, Takashi Murakami with Louis Vuitton. In the fashion market today, fashion addicts rush to the latest in fashion-art collaboration, sometimes when this collaboration have a sense of activism in it. Today, the focus is on Andrea Crews, a fashion designer who brings exercises her collections in the playful and eccentric culture that interferes with the fashion market, thus creating a beautiful chaos of fashion.

Cut up Swoosh t-shirts are patchworked into a giant poncho top, or two zip-front nylon blousons is transformed into a sexy cocktail dress on display at the Cannes Film Festival. Her collaborations are a fashion voice that is getting a lot of attention from buyers who want to exercise they way they style today. What happens between art and fashion, stages itself as multiple events of day to day life, such as performances, fashion happenings, etc.

More shoes by Zaha!!

Seriously..now Zaha Hadid's designing shoes!! She has expanded her brand into the fashion world. Ok, so she designed these shoes for Melissa ( a brazilian brand)..Maybe they're the new crocs ?!?! But now shes designing more shoes! She has lately collaborated with Lacoste on a new sport shoe that's available in Spring 2009.
Zaha Hadid describes the design in a press statement, “The design expression behind the collaboration with Lacoste footwear allows the evolution of dynamic fluid grids. When wrapped around the shape of a foot, these expand and contract to negotiate and adapt to the body ergonomically. In doing so a landscape emerges, undulating and radiating as it merges seamlessly with the body.”
